Small Group Questions
1. How is the sin of pride woven throughout concealment? How does concealment end up destroying families, churches, and relationships? Why is concealment a short-term fix with long-term catastrophic consequences? Can you think of how concealment in Old Testament figures like David ended up creating more global destruction in his family? Have you ever concealed anything in your Christian walk that came back and completely made a mockery at your efforts of concealment?
2. Following the text related to concealment, why does Jesus choose to set the reality compass back to focusing on the one who can put us in hell? Is this a wakeup call to where our values should come from?
3. Read Ezekiel 8:7-17. What is God telling Ezekiel about the interior world of Israel’s heart? Are we like these priests offering worship to what is unclean? How much of our time do we spend propping up our personas to save face?
4. How might we break the bonds of concealment? (Read James 5:16) What might this look like? Who might you confess your sins with? Have you ever done this?
5. What is the difference between blasphemy and blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? Is it possible for a true believer in Christ to commit Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit?
